This engaging tale of true love, loss and longing finds a poor street trader in love with a young woman. He is convinced that the girl is his own true love whom he has looked for all of his life. He decides he wishes to marry her, but plans change when the girl is sold into slavery to pay off a debt her father incurred. The discouraged but determined man works to save enough money to buy her back, but she is sold once again before he can secure the needed funds. He searches continually for the woman before he finds her years later with a young son who closely resembles him in appearance.
