Canada wasn't the only place that had mounted police -- Pennsylvania's state troopers also once had a mounted division. That's about the only difference between this and any other Mountie-type film. Corporal Jack (George Soule Spencer) is Pennsylvania's Trooper 44, and he's in love with Ruth Moreland (June Daye), whose father (Walter P. Lewis) is a member of a gang of crooks headed by the notorious Ian Sanford (W.W. Black). Jack is ordered to investigate a robbery and murder. Circumstantial evidence leads him to believe that Ruth was involved. He nevertheless does his duty and arrests his sweetheart, who is bailed out by Arnold Davis (Roy Sheldon), the proprietor of the dance hall where Sanford's gang congregates. He tries to attack Ruth, but one of the gang, Sandy McLane (Roy Gahris, who also directed), stops him. McLane then goes to the police and tells the whole story. The troopers round up the crooks, except for Ruth's father, who dies in a cabin fire. Before he perishes, he exonerates Ruth from any wrongdoing.
