Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Based on the board game of the same name, the British TV series Trivial Pursuit joined the BBC1 lineup in 1990. The six initial episodes, hosted by Rory McGrath, more or less stuck to the rules of the original game, in which the players advanced up or down a board by answering trivia questions. After completing its single-season BBC1 run in 1991, Trivial Pursuit returned in considerably altered fashion on Britain's Family Channel cable service in 1993. Hosted by Tony Slattery, this version favored speed and flashy graphics over strict adherence to the board game, and also found the contestants playing more rounds with a wider variety of question-and-answer categories.
