Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Rick Steves enjoys another of his many forays into France in this 47th episode of the popular PBS series. The tour begins at the Louvre, only to return later in the episode for an overview of such painters at Manet and Monet. Then it is off to the traditional tourist attractions of the Champs Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe, with an untraditional stopover in a tiny Parisian neighborhood before the inevitable ascent of the Eiffel Tower. Rick then heads underground through ancient streets beneath Notre Dame, resurfacing for a tour of the gardens of Versailles. The "day trip" ends at Giveny, site of the gardens made famous by the impressionist artist Monet.
