Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Globetrotting author Rick Steves launches his TV travel series by promising his viewers that he'll conduct many an economical sidetrip through "Europe's Back Door." The first episode of Travels in Europe With Rick Steves takes place in Holland, from Haarlem to Amsterdam. Beyond the natural and archietectural highlights, Rick guides the viewer through Hoge Veluwe National Park (with its fabulous display of Van Gogh paintings) and the Rijksmuseum, the "home" of Rembrandt, Hals, and Vermeer. "Amsterdam" also includes valuable safety tips for those planning their first excursion to Europe.
