The Trains on Location series, narrated by TRAINS editor Kevin P. Keefe, takes the railroad enthusiast aboard freight and passenger trains bound for some of the most scenic areas in North America. The train lover gets a close-up look at the engines which power the trains as well as a tour of the cars and cargoes. Interviews with railroad workers and historians provide insights into the operations and history of each line. This episode follows both banks of the Hudson River, with Amtrak and Metro North on the east bank, and the CSX River Line on the west bank. Bear Mountain, Iona Island, and the Breakneck and Garrison Tunnels are highlights. The sights and sounds of the scenic ride are captured in color and stereo.
