Synopsis by Mark Deming

It's the Sixties and new musical ideas are in the air all over the world -- well, almost everywhere. Breza (Branko Djuric) is a guitarist living in Slovenia during the mid-1960's. Breza, who still lives with his mother (Semka Sokolovic), makes a meager living playing gypsy music, but he's developed a passion for the rock 'n' roll sounds that are making waves in America and Europe. However, the small town Breza calls home doesn't seem to be ready for rock 'n' roll just yet, though Silvija (Tanja Ribic), who waits tables at a local diner, picked up a taste for beat music during a stay in Switzerland and is impressed with Breza's command of the style. Breza and Silvija become an item, but Breza's efforts to boost the village's hip quotient remain an uphill battle; it doesn't help that his mother is adamantly opposed to the big beat, and his father is more concerned with his scheme to obtain a new tractor. Traktor, Ljubezen in rock 'n' roll (aka Tractor, Love and Rock 'n' Roll) was an official selection at the 2008 Taormina Film Festival.
