Top 5 (2002)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Hosted by ubiquitous New York access-TV personality Bobby Rivers, the weekly, half-hour cable series Top 5 rated the most popular "fad foods" in each decade, beginning with the 1950s. Highlights included segments on the invention of the frozen TV dinner, the ephemeral popularity of fondue, and the between-meals treats that kids have always loved. Accuracy was not the series' strong suit: The producers were clearly more interested in loud laughs than dry statistics. Top 5 debuted October 5, 2002.
