Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
Five early Tom Mix one-reelers are featured in this compilation: Never Again (1915), in which Mix plays a temperance advocate; An Angelic Attitude (1916), co-starring Mix's future wife Victoria Forde as an Eastern girl on a Western ranch; A Western Masquerade (1916), with Mix as a schoolteacher falling for his star pupil (Forde again); The $5,000 Elopement (1916), in which Forde is kidnapped along with a sum of money; and, finally, Local Color on the A-1 Ranch (1916), which was basically a reworking of the earlier An Angelic Attitude. Produced by the Selig Polyscope Company, the early Mix shorts were more rural comedies than what a modern audience would consider a western.
