Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Theobald Todd (Frank Keenan) is a washout both at home and at work. He is city editor for the Springfield Evening Times, and while he's known as a crack news-hound, his passivity has kept him from being promoted any higher. At home he is a henpecked husband. When the head of the Times is away for a few days, Todd is left in charge, and a big news story breaks. A brokerage firm is revealed to be a front for bookmakers, and he tells all in an "extra" edition of the Times. Because of his excellent work, the position of managing editor is finally forced upon Todd and, encouraged by this accomplishment, he decides to assert himself with his wife and become the true head of his household. Newspaper critics loved this movie, mostly because it accurately depicted journalistic life.
