Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Based on the novel by R.F. Delderfield, the British drama series To Serve Them All My Days starred John Duttine as Welsh schoolteacher David Powlett-Jones. Following his harrowing experiences in WWI, the disillusioned, shell-shocked Powlett-Jones elected to start life anew by accepting a teaching post at Banfylde School in Devon. Although as a Welshman he still felt like a fish out of water in the Southern England social and educational hierarchy, David was helped to find his way by the lovely Beth Marwood (Belinda Lang), who later became his wife. The 13 50-minute episodes of To Serve Them All My Days were originally presented by the BBC in 1980, and subsequently shown in the U.S. as part of Public Television's Masterpiece Theatre.
