Synopsis by Mark Deming
The issue of organ donation is given dramatic form in this personal story from Iran. A young woman is in dire need of a donor for a heart transplant, but despite repeatedly approaching surgeons and families of severe accident victims, she's had no luck. She discovers a young man, a member of a disreputable crime family, who was killed at his wedding party, and the woman and her family make a desperate appeal to the gangsters to let his heart live on in her. Boodan Yaa Naboodan/To Be Or Not To Be was directed by one of Iran's most acclaimed filmmakers, Kianoosh Ayyari.
