Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Not to be confused with the 1991 prize-winning gangster saga To Be Number One, this film -- directed by and starring pop singer Julian Cheung Chi-lam -- attempts to cash in on the wild success of the Young and Dangerous series with this yarn about boys behaving badly on the streets of Hong Kong. Fai Chuen (Cheung) is a youth of humble origin and few opportunities who makes his way to gangland success riding the coattails of crime boss Brother Piu (Michael Chan Wai-man). While Fai's brash recklessness and taste for violence precipitate his meteoric rise, it also sows the seeds of his downfall, especially when he kills the beloved lieutenant of a rival gang.
