In this war drama, a man who is a leader in the North Vietnamese Viet Cong army discovers that his son, whom he left as a little boy many years before in order to join the North's fight against colonialists, has been captured as part of a South Vietnamese army contingent. He sets himself the task of persuading his son to give his loyalties to the North, and he does not reveal to the boy that he is his father. The boy finds out anyway but does not reveal his knowledge of the true situation, as he is determined to show that he is worthy.
