Synopsis by Violet LeVoit
This documentary tells the unlikely story of Egyptian heart surgeon Bassem Youssef, who, after treating protesters injured in the Arab Spring uprisings, was inspired to quit his practice to become a full-time comedian and political satirist. His program Al Bernameg brought him fame as "the Egyptian Jon Stewart," but his digs at his country's government led to his arrest for allegedly defaming Islam and Egypt's president.
