Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This drama of love and politics was "suggested by" the play by Harry S. Sheldon. Robert Wingfield (House Peters) is running for governor against Senator Brewster (Ned Burton). Wingfield has fallen in love with Brewster's daughter, Eleanor (Anna Lehr), but he is already engaged to someone else. He and Eleanor agree to cool things off for the sake of his career and he is elected. His new bride has only married him for his social standing and she has always had another lover, Howard Lennox (Henry Sedley). When Lennox grows tired of her, he approaches Eleanor. Determined to keep him away, Eleanor's brother goes to Lennox's apartment and finds him murdered. He is held for the crime, and Eleanor goes to Wingfield to plead for him. She winds up stuck at his hunting lodge overnight, and Mrs. Wingfield tries to ruin her reputation. In the end it turns out that Mrs. Wingfield killed Lennox, and she confesses.
