Synopsis by Brian J. Dillard

In this episode of This Life, Miles (Jack Davenport) finally introduces his likable new girlfriend, Francesca (Rachel Fielding), to the rest of the flat. They interrupt an intense game of scrabble presided over by Egg (Andrew Lincoln). Francesca gets along splendidly with Anna, although Miles and Anna bicker right in front of her. Back at work, Anna (Daniela Nardini) dives into her new case, in which she and Graham (Cyril Nri) are defending a schoolteacher who has been accused of rape by one of his students. Anna manages to put her foot in her mouth several times with Graham, whose hardworking, meticulous nature doesn't mesh will with Anna's bravado. Milly (Amita Dhiri) overhears Rachel (Natasha Little) and Kira (Luisa Bradshaw-White) talking about how uptight she is; later, she blows up at Rachel in the middle of the office, blowing holes in the other women's image of her as severe and reserved. Ferdy (Ramon Tikaram) allows Kira and Jo (Steve John Shepherd) to use his room for an evening assignation; a mishap with the condom casts a pall over their carefree romance. Ferdy gets some action of his own when Lenny (Tony Curran) returns to the flat, this time ostensibly to fix the toilet but actually to find out why he hasn't heard from Ferdy. Miles finally apologizes to Anna for not voting for her and lying about it; he confesses that he did it because he was jealous of Anna professionally. Later, Miles and Francesca quarrel, but Miles asks her to marry him and she accepts. Series two, Episode 14 of the cult-favorite British soap This Life: Who's That Girl? first aired on BBC 2 on June 19, 1997.
