Synopsis by Brian J. Dillard

In this episode of This Life, the house recovers from the previous night's revelry. Milly (Amita Dhiri) and Egg (Andrew Lincoln) celebrate their sexual and emotional reunion. Jerry (Paul Copley) lets Anna know that he knows she slept with Miles (Jack Davenport) the night before; he decides to move into his own place, but he wishes Anna (Daniela Nardini) luck with Miles. However, circumstances and mistrust keep Miles and Anna from turning their recurring fling into something deeper -- especially after Jo (Steve John Shepherd) sows the seeds of doubt in Miles' mind and Anna overhears all the wrong parts of their conversation. One of the guests steals Egg and Milly's grocery money; Egg takes to gambling to help inject some fun and cash into his unemployment, especially after Jerry seems unimpressed with his writing efforts. Pert new trainee Rachel (Natasha Little) finally fills Egg's spot at Moore, Spencer, Wright; her chattiness rubs Milly wrong, especially when she natters on about having been sexually harassed at her last job. Kira (Luisa Bradshaw-White) implores a very hung-over Warren (Jason Hughes) to help her catch Jo's romantic eye. Things pick up for Anna at work to the point where Hooperman (Geoffrey Bateman) drags her into his office for a friendly chat about a possible promotion. By the time she makes it to the pub to talk to Miles about their fling, he's become convinced that she's standing him up and begun chatting up another woman. In the drunken row that results, both parties say things they will regret for the rest of the season. Series two, episode one of the cult-favorite British soap This Life: Last Tango in Southwark first aired on BBC 2 on March 17, 1997.
