Synopsis by Brian J. Dillard

In this aptly titled final episode of This Life, two years of subplots come to a head. Anna (Daniela Nardini) keeps mum about her feelings for Miles (Jack Davenport), even as his wedding to Francesca (Rachel Fielding) looms. Anna's only confidante is Milly (Amita Dhiri), with whom she patches things up after Milly dramatically breaks off her affair with boss/lover O'Donnell (David Mallinson). Dodging the suspicions of boyfriend Egg (Andrew Lincoln), Milly commits herself to working out the problems in their relationship. Ferdy (Ramon Tikaram) and Lenny (Tony Curran) cement their own commitment by proudly attending the wedding together, while Kira (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Jo (Steve John Shepherd) use the same occasion to tiptoe around the prospect of getting back together. At the wedding, Anna is too overcome to even come into the church. She then gets tanked at the reception in full view of her disapproving boss. As Ferdy and Lenny drop ecstasy and the reception swirls around them, Milly positively glows with delight at a surprise marriage proposal from Egg. But she overplays her hand, tells coworker Rachel (Natasha Little) to her face that she hates her, and is crushed when Rachel skillfully but subtly reveals Milly's infidelity to Egg. Egg's even more crushed, chucking his best-man speech and rambling on about the nature of love. Milly tries to talk to him, but he storms out, despondent, and old flatmate Warren (Jason Hughes) arrives just in time to see Milly trying to scratch out Rachel's eyes. The final episode of the cult-favorite British soap, This Life: Apocalpyse Wow! first aired on BBC 2 on August 7, 1997, leaving the series on an eternal cliffhanger. During its short run, the series managed to bag an award for best drama series from the Royal Television Society and a best actress award for Dardini from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
