Synopsis by Nathan Southern
In preparation for the nonfiction outing This is My Africa, documentarist Zina Saro-Wiwa approached 18 disparate individuals and asked them to complete an 18-point questionnaire on their memories, feelings and impressions of the African continent. Saro-Wiwa then filmed the interviewees reflecting on such facets of African society as food, music and visual artists, and speculating on the state of the continent in the year 2060. The resultant effect is a "tapestry of experience" comprised of the perceptions of many individuals from unique and different backgrounds, that consequently imparts a multifaceted definition of Africa. Participants include Colin Firth, Yinka Shonibare, Chiwetel Ejiofor and many others.
