Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Filmmaker Sarah Friedland explores the humanity surrounding an astounding epidemic with this documentary that follows the plight of two HIV-positive Zulu women as they begin antiretroviral drug therapy. Sixty-three percent of the world's HIV/AIDS-infected population hails from South Africa, and in Kwazulu Natal twice as many women as men are infected with the virus. This is a place where orphans outnumber their counterparts, daily funerals are completely normal, and one out of six people is HIV-positive. But regardless of these harrowing numbers, not all people of the South African province have lost hope. This is the story of two such women, women who have put their faith in science despite the tragic lack of support and resources available to them. As they invite the viewer into their homes and share their stories, the hope that these drugs offer becomes readily apparent.
