Synopsis by Alice Day
The almost impossibly thin figures of top models, actresses, and dancers are the ideals that many young women dream of, to the detriment of their health. Methods used to try to achieve ultra-thinness can include the binge-purge cycle of overeating then vomiting, the misuse of laxatives, and simply not eating. To these women, their healthy body shapes are perceived as fat and ugly, and any normal eating behavior is seen as unnatural. The information presented in Thin Dreams is meant to keep susceptible people from descending into a life-threatening situation.
