Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This video is part five in the 26-volume World at War series that chronicles the history of World War II. Laurence Olivier narrates the historic 1974 television programs. In this volume, the topic is the German-Soviet Pact of 1939, in which the two nations agreed to take control of Europe. Ultimately, Hitler, whose plan included subjugation of Slavic peoples, turned on his former ally. Graphic film footage documents the terrible losses sustained in the ensuing battle between Germany and Russia.
