This 13-part series examines the most important developmental changes children experience between birth and the age of five, so that caregivers can better meet their changing needs. This volume looks at how caregivers can try to boost children's self-esteem and encourage their independence by allowing them to make certain choices within their daily routines. The featured experts also note the importance of recognizing special achievements. Host Dr. Joanne Hendrick, author of The Whole Child, is a professor emerita of Early Childhood at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. A panel of highly distinguished childhood education and child development experts contributed to the design and content of this program. The series was filmed in a variety of preschools, Head Start classrooms, and private homes being operated for childcare and schooling purposes.
