Synopsis by Alice Day

In this series of 30 short programs, many basic science concepts are explained. A topic is introduced, demonstrations and experiments provide insight into the discussion, and the program ends, frequently in less than ten minutes. However, each segment is packed with critical science information aimed at students in eighth grade and under. The Way Things Work: What Is Air Pressure? features Bob Symes as he shows how air pressure is powerful enough to crush a tin can. Many of the experiments can be reproduced in the classroom, and students can then experience a hands-on activity of their own.
