Synopsis by Jack Rodgers
Actor/filmmaker Nick Sandow wrote and directed this subversive mob flick, which is based on true events. Thomas (Vincent Piazza) is a Mafia-obsessed nobody in 1992 New York, and when his idol John Gotti goes on trial, he sees a chance to make his name. With the help of his new girlfriend, recovering drug addict Rose (Patricia Arquette), he tries to put pressure on a member of the jury and ensure a "Not Guilty" verdict for his hero. When he fails spectacularly, Thomas and Rose instead turn to robbing mob poker games for easy money. The Wannabe made its world premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival.
