Synopsis by Sandra Bencic
Having made documentaries about spinsters (Lovable) and misanthropes (I, Curmudgeon), filmmaker Alan Zweig trains his camera on another often-unseen segment of marginalized outsiders: ex-convicts. Hard Name finds Zweig interviewing men who have spent most of their lives behind bars about the everyday brutalities of prison, the difficulties of adjusting to life on the outside, and, most poignantly, the formative experiences that caused them to turn to crime.
