Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This two-hour cable documentary traces the violent life and death of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Based on the best-seller by Mark Bowden, the film offers a thumbnail sketch of Escobar's rise to power, devoting most of its attention to his bloody 1993 assassination. Among the questions raised: How deeply was the U.S. involved with the vigilantes who wiped Escobar from the face of the earth? Combining archival footage with some rather ripe dramatic re-enactments, The True Story of Killing Pablo was a presentation of The History Channel.
