Exploitation pioneers Michael Findlay and Roberta Findlay (Snuff) co-directed this first film in their notorious "Flesh Trilogy." Robert West stars as Richard, a jilted businessman who is hit by a car, losing his left eye and the use of his legs. Embittered and mad, Richard vows revenge on his wife Claudia from a cheap hotel room. Practicing by killing two nude dancers with a poison-thorned rose and a bamboo blowgun, the eyepatch-wearing maniac then tortures a prostitute to death with a Turkish scimitar to locate Claudia and her lesbian lover Janet at a remote cottage. Crossbow in hand, Richard breaks in and throws Claudia on a workbench, turning on a circular saw and exclaiming, "Those breasts - let me see them and feel them again before they die." Then he decapitates her off-screen before being shot with his own crossbow by the resourceful Janet. This is a surprisingly effective and, at 61 minutes, fairly fast-moving film for its genre, and Robin Aden's music is much better than expected. With its creative murder weapons, The Touch of Her Flesh has more in common with such later slasher films as Tony Maylam's The Burning (1981) than with the usual '60s nudie-roughie. It was also the first slasher series, followed by two sequels, The Curse of Her Flesh (1968) and The Kiss of Her Flesh (1970), featuring the eyepatch-wearing psycho returning to wreak more havoc on scantily-clad women.
