Synopsis by Hal Erickson
One of a handful of live-action series on cable's Disney Channel, the weekly, half-hour The Suite Life of Zach and Cody starred real-life twins Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse as the 12-year-old lookalike Martin siblings Zack (the reckless one) and Cody (the sensible one). The boys were abruptly relocated when their mother Carey Martin (Kim Rhodes), a professional singer, landed a longtime gig at the Tipton, the poshest hotel in Boston hotel. Now living in their mom's luxurious upper-floor suite, Zach and Cody took full and hilarious advantages of all the hotel's creature comforts and preferred-customer services. Curbing their enthusiasm was Maddie Fitzpatrick (Ashley Michelle Tisdale) the hotel's no-nonsense teenaged gift shop clerk, who occasionally babysat for the boys. Others in the cast were Phill Lewis as huffy hotel manager Mr. Moseby; Brenda Song as the hotel owner's spoiled and capricious daughter London Tipton, a character blatantly patterned on Paris Hilton; and Adrian R'Mante as the wisecracking bellboy Esteban. Debuting March 18, 2005, The Suite Life of Zach and Cody joined the Saturday-AM lineup of the Disney Channel's sister network ABC the following fall.
