Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Trade paper Moving Picture World urged theaters to publicize "Virginia Pearson, who wears 25 handsome gowns in this production." And Pearson has a good reason to wear those 25 handsome gowns; her character, Virginia Lake, is part of Washington, D.C., society. Virginia, the ward of the assistant secretary of state, is an aspiring artist who has turned down the proposal of Robert Macklin (Clay Clement). Even though she loves him, she is dead set on a career. Macklin, in turn, is loved by the wicked Countess Collonna (Dorothy Rogers), who plots to get him away from Virginia's influence. Virginia is allowed to create a copy of a valuable painting which is owned by the Italian government. When the real painting turns up missing, Virginia becomes a prime suspect. At a crucial moment that would establish her innocence, Virginia mysteriously disappears. She has actually gone after her friend, Betty (Ethel Hallor), who has left her husband and run off with a crook. Eventually the real culprits are revealed, Virginia's good name is cleared, and she reconsiders Macklin's proposal.
