Created and written by Coronation Street veteran John Finch, the British drama series The Spoils of War was set in the Lake Counties district before, during, and after WWII. The action was centralized by the relationship between two families of differing financial situations, the Warringtons and the Haywards. Not unexpectedly, the war wrought a number of changes on both families, not all of them for the better. Originally telecast by Granada Television from January 27 to March 9, 1980, The Spoils of War returned for two additional batches of episodes, which aired from July 25 to August 29, 1980 and June 30 to August 18, 1981. Twenty hour-long installments were produced in all.
