Synopsis by Mark Deming

Intellectually stunted social pariah Ralph Wiggum (voice of Nancy Cartwright) is on a field trip with his schoolmates from Springfield Elementary when one of the chaperones, Marge Simpson (voice of Julie Kavner), notices the boy doesn't seem to have any friends. Eager to help, Marge arranges for Ralph to come over for a play date with her son Bart (also voiced by Cartwright), though Bart makes it clear he has no interest in socializing with Ralph. But Bart soon learns that are advantages to spending time with Ralph -- since his father is Springfield's Chief of Police, a quick visit to the Wiggum home results in them finding a special pass key that opens any door in town. Bart and Ralph use the key to break into an abandoned prison on the outskirts of town. Despite this, Bart is still afraid of being seen in public with Ralph, though he soon has to own up to their adventures at the jailhouse when Mayor Quimby (voice of Dan Castellaneta) holds a live press conference from the prison and decides to relax in the electric chair that Bart happened to reactivate. "This Little Wiggy" was first screened on March 22, 1998.
