Synopsis by Mark Deming

Homer Simpson (voice of Dan Castellaneta) takes his kids Bart (voice of Nancy Cartwright) and Lisa (voice of Yeardley Smith) to an animation festival, where he sees a demonstration of Animotion, a new process that can turn human movement into character animation on screen. Certain this is the wave of the future, Homer invests the all the family's savings in Animotion, Inc., without Marge (voice of Julie Kavner) knowing about it. Animotion quickly goes belly-up, leaving the Simpsons penniless, and Homer begins submitting to medical experiments to earn extra money. The doctors using Homer as a guinea pig make the startling discovery that he has several crayons lodged in his brain, which he shoved up his nose as a boy; removing the wax markers causes Homer's unimpressive IQ to rise to genius level. While Lisa is delighted to have another intellectual in the household at last, Homer's friends and co-workers aren't especially happy with the newer, brighter man, and it puts his job as safety monitor at Springfield's nuclear power plant in serious jeopardy. "Homr" was first aired on January 7, 2001.
