Synopsis
"The Survival Game" (Part 5) looks at why mollusks have been around for 500 million years. "Their body plan adapts, " says narrator Peter Coyote, "endlessly and ingeniously." Abalones, moon snails and cockles developed feet. For the nautilus it was a buoyant shell, and for the squid it was speed (Coyote calls it a "natural rocket). Then there's the octopus, which can change it's color, texture and shape. The reason: it has a superior brain. (Who knew?)
