The recent John Wayne movie blockbuster The Alamo is roundly skewered in the March 28, 1961 edition of The Red Skelton Show. In the comedy sketch "Deadeye at the Alamo," Sheriff Deadeye (Red) claims to be the sole survivor of the famed Texas battle. He also recalls how he "won" the skirmish all by himself, claiming to have outflanked and hoodwinked Mexican general Santa Ana (played by guest star Cesar Romero). Adele Mara costars as Elaine.
