Hans Christian Andersen's timeless fable comes to life as never before in director Diane Paloma Eskenazi's animated re-telling of the tale that has touched generations. For her whole life, all young gypsy Shari ever hoped for was a chance to take the stage at the renowned Royal Theater, and when her mother sews ribbons into a pair of dance shoes, it looks as if she may finally have a chance to live out her dreams. Though she succeeds in landing a spot in the exclusive dance company, Shari still can't see eye to eye with prima donna dancer Martina. Determined to live out her dreams at any cost, Shari soon trades the golden comb that symbolizes her eternal devotion to handsome young gypsy Kevin for a pair of magical ballerina shoes that are said to give its owner the power to dance like never before.
