Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Comprised of drummer Vito Roccoforte, guitarist Luke Jenner, and bassist Matt Safer (who replaced Gabriel Andruzzi early on), the Rapture -- a critically acclaimed band known for its crude early incarnation of the post-punk revival -- first took root in early 1998. The group established itself via touring and the release of two LPs: Mirror (1999), for the Gravity label, and Echoes (2003), forStrummer/Universal. In the home video release The Rapture Is Live, and Well, in New York City, Roccoforte, Jenner, and Safer perform 15 tracks on-stage in Manhattan. Numbers include "Happy Birthday Mattie," "Modern Day Romance," "House of Jealous Lovers," "Sister Savior," and "Out of the Races." As a bonus, this release offers the original music videos for "House of Jealous Lovers," "Sister Savior," and "Love is All."
