Tommy Lee Jones stars in this TV-movie adaption of the popular play by N. Richard Nash. Tuesday Weld stars as Lizzie Curry, a plain farm woman who seems destined to spend her life alone. When her family farm is put in jeopardy by drought, along comes Bill Starbuck (Jones), a traveling rainmaker who tries to entice Lizzie into taking a chance on him, while he promises rain for the farm.
