Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A teenage girl returns to her ancestral home on the Baltic coast as World War I looms close on the horizon and harbors an Estonian anarchist despite the potentially dire consequences. Her mother having recently perished in Berlin, 14 year old Oda von Siering travels to Poll to live with her father Ebbo, a peculiar scientist fascinated by racial breeding. In Poll, Russians, Germans, and Estonians live uneasily alongside one another and with the war drums beating, local tensions are at an all time high. As her privileged aunt Milla joins the rest of the aristocratic German family in denying the inevitable, Oda happens across a wounded Estonian anarchist, and surreptitiously nurses him back to health. When Oda's secret is discovered, the violence that follows ignites local tensions that had been lingering just beneath the surface, robbing her of her innocence and threatening to destroy her entire family.
