Synopsis

"Wrath" (Part 3 of four) tracks U.S. forces through Europe from D-Day to V-E Day. "How I got here in the middle of Helzapoppin' I don't know," one GI wrote in a letter home not long after the Allied landing. Advances were fast at first, and there are joyful color clips of American troops liberating French cities and towns. But a Nazi counteroffensive in December 1944 led to the bloody Battle of the Bulge. Then there was the bombing of German cities, which killed some 650,000 civilians. "We must not get soft," U.S. general "Hap" Arnold wrote. And on April 11, 1945, the Americans liberated Buchenwald. Said Edward R. Murrow: "I have no words." Martin Sheen narrates.
