Synopsis

"Battlefronts (1942-44)" begins as the U.S. gears up for war in the wake of Pearl Harbor and ends just before D-Day. Included are battle clips of U.S. forces in North Africa filmed by producer Darryl F. Zanuck, as well as footage of Japanese-Americans in internment camps. Also: films of the Warsaw ghetto, and clips of resolute civilians on the home front. "I get tired," one female farmworker in California is quoted as saying. "But so does that boy in the foxhole." Martin Sheen narrates.
