Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Based on the novel by Hugh Miller, the British miniseries The Outsider was set in the Yorkshire village of Micklethorpe. Unable to find work in the "South," journalist Frank Scully (John Duttine) was invited to stay for a spell in Micklethorpe by an old friend. It wasn't long before Frank found himself waist-deep in a sinister conspiracy, tied in with a series of anonymous articles written by the new owner of the local newspaper. Running for seven hour-long episodes over Yorkshire Television in 1983, The Outsider was later reedited as a single feature film.
