Living in a futuristic commune, teenaged sweethearts Brav (Jimmy Marsden) and Shal (Emmanuelle Vaugier) become the parents of a baby. Their happiness proves short-lived when Shal's alien surrogate parents take the child away from them. In order to retrieve their child, the teenagers must take a perilous journey through a strange, threatening, and somehow beautiful new world -- leading to an astonishing revelation for them both. Originally filmed for The Outer Limits' third season, "Rite of Passage" was not telecast until Season Four, on March 13, 1998.
