As a means of repair cell damage in human beings, Dr. Stephen Ledbetter (Richard Thomas) creates the "nanobots" -- tiny robots that can only be seen through a microscope. Of course, it will be many years before Ledbetter's invention will be perfected for mainstream use. Alas, this is not soon enough for Ledbetter's lab assistant, Andy Groenig (Peter Outerbridge), who has been diagnosed with cancer and given only a year to live. Desperately, Andy injects himself with the nanobots -- with terrifying results. "The New Breed" was originally broadcast on July 9, 1995.
