Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

In this modest film set along the rocky seacoast and verdant hills of 19th-century Ireland, a young girl is made to feel unwanted by the taunts of her peers until she finds an unusual ally in the person of a magical wizard who whisks her up to the branches of a tree and then enables her to see the shortcomings of enemies and friends alike. But the girl has not found the perfect answer to her position as an outcast, as she soon finds out. The symbolism behind this vignette, and others that portray outcasts, might partially reflect the Irish immigrant "outcasts" in 19th-century American society.
