The series, which first aired in 1971, is enjoying renewed popularity. Created by Barbara Atlas and Doug Momary, it encourages children to become more compassionate, more self-confident, and more constructive. In this episode, kids team up with Freddie the Frog, Henrietta Hippo, Charlie the Owl, Doug, and Emmy Jo for songs and lessons in human compassion. Recommended for children age three to nine, The New Zoo Revue received a four-star rating from the National PTA Review Board.
