Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Parts of this adventure/drama, written by Rex Beach, were actually shot at the Panama Canal during and after its construction. Kirk Anthony (Wheeler Oakman) is a spendthrift son who drives his rich father (Frank Clark) up a wall. An embezzler drugs him and leaves him unconscious on a steamer headed for the Panama Canal -- after stripping him of his valuables, of course. When he comes to, he meets Edith Cordlandt (Kathlyn Williams), the young wife of a diplomat (Harry Lonsdale). Edith helps him out and falls in love with him, but he keeps a respectable distance. When the ship arrives in Panama, Kirk has a number of wild adventures and eventually becomes a conductor on the government railroad. In spite of Mrs. Cordlandt's attentions, he secretly marries a Spanish girl, Chiquita Caravel (Norma Nichols). Mr. Cordlandt kills himself, but Kirk is accused of murdering him. Things look bad, but then his father, who has finally forgiven him, comes to Panama and gets him out of the scrape.
