Synopsis by Mark Deming

One of the first and most enduring bands on the San Francisco new wave scene, The Mutants built a formidable local reputation for their poppy yet aggressive sound (anchored by guitarist Brendan Early), the witty visuals of their stage show and the surreal lyrics and off-kilter harmonies supplied by vocalists Fritz Fox, Sally Webster and Sue White. Formed in 1977, the band was a major draw in Northern California in the late 1970's and early 80's, and this DVD release features footage from a late-period 1984 gig as well as a complete 1989 reunion concert. The Mutants: Forensic Report also includes a short profile of the group, featuring interviews with most of the original band members. Songs include "Insect Lounge", "Furniture", "War Against Girls", "Opposite World", "Think, Think, Think" and many more.
