Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Loosely adapted from Dr. Daniel Levitin's bestseller This is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession, this documentary program systematically investigates the connection between the neurological activity of the human brain and mankind's overwhelming interest in music, and thereby asks why this interest exists. Pop-rock superstar Sting takes center stage and acts as Levitin's test subject; over the course of the film, the musical icon gets systematically subjected to various kinds of music, and we see how this external stimuli impacts him emotionally and physiologically. In the process, Sting and Levitin draw on the use of cutting-edge technology including a Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Additional participants include Feist, Wyclef Jean and Michael Bublé.
